Hum-free fan control

A Variac is an excellent solution for the stepless control of suitable AC fans in a grow room or grow tent. The large dial is used to increase or decrease the output voltage, allowing the speed and, consequently, the airflow of the fan to be precisely adjusted.

The major advantage over many cheap electronic speed controllers is the way the fan is controlled. A Variac varies the AC voltage without clipping the sine wave of the mains voltage. As a result, annoying motor humming is greatly reduced or preventedand the fan can continue to run quietly and stably.

This makes the Variac particularly suitable when quiet extraction is important, for example in living spaces or other situations where noise nuisance must be kept to a minimum.

Extra capacity with 1000VA

The output voltage is infinitely adjustable from 0 to 300V AC. The built-in analog voltmeter clearly shows the set output voltage at a glance. This makes it easy to find a suitable balance between ventilation capacity and noise level.

The 1000VA versionhas a maximum output current of 3.3Aand thus offers significantly higher load capacity than the 500VA version. This makes it suitable for heavier fans or applications requiring more power.

More than just fans

The Variac can also be used for other applications where a manually adjustable AC voltage is required, for example for testing or the controlled powering of suitable electrical equipment.

Note:not every electrical device or fan motor is suitable for control via voltage reduction. Always check the specifications of the connected device and do not exceed the maximum load of the Variac.
